(Formerly Lawn Fete)
The word “fete” is defined as an elaborate festival, party, or celebration usually held once per year. We recently prefer to call it our annual “Summer Festival” held the 2nd Sunday in July here in Eden.
Our mission is primarily to raise funds to help pay for parish expenses, such as: insurance fees, utility bills, supplies, repairs and upkeep (especially for buildings & grounds), etc.
We also strive to project the personal benefits of our celebration by encouraging camaraderie and new friendships, not only within our own parish, but for the visitors and friends as well. This helps to enlighten outsiders more about Catholic life and the Church.
We are constantly, especially today, looking for new ways to evangelize the Catholic faith and inspire our youth to carry on the faith. Festivities such as our Summer Festival help in this regard.
We are well known for our delicious menu. Locally raised fresh chickens are barbequed the day of our festival right on our grounds and arrive hot in our kitchen, ready to plate and enjoy. The dinner is accompanied by mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, coleslaw, beets, a roll and butter. Dessert is offered in the form of delicious homemade pies made by our dedicated parish members. We also offer refreshments, and takeout is available. In addition, we have a Chinese auction, spinning wheel prizes for fresh-picked baskets of fresh blueberries, brown bag surprises, a live band which we all enjoy, games for the children, and more to come. In October our parish also has our annual outstandingly delicious pork chop dinner, which is a huge hit.
Our preparation committee meets usually 2 times per year at the parish to discuss improvements, the menu, and any new ideas.New help is always needed and most welcome. Please call me anytime if you can spend a few hours for a good cause. Thank you, and may God bless you!
