The Altar and Rosary Ladies of St. Mary's Church are an active group of ladies who meet monthly and serve the parish in many ways. They coordinate a lively social calendar that includes coffee hours, annual church dinners, and First Communion and First Penance receptions. The ladies also serve as the bereavement committee, provide funeral luncheons, and arrange outreach programs of clothing and food for the needy, including Thanksgiving gift cards and baskets. Among a myriad of other activities, the group takes care of alter linens, organizes flowers for the alter, has a prayer intention book in back of the church, helps keep the church and church kitchen tidy, looks after the gardens, provides Living Faith Booklets each quarter, and oversees setting up the church for holidays. Beyond their efforts to help others, these ladies pray together and give each other wonderful friendship, love and support.
This group first formed in 1939 and has flourished ever since, always adapting to the needs of the parish. Since many of the ladies are good cooks, in 2003 and 2004 they published two popular cookbooks of their favorite recipes.
Recently, the ladies donated new rugs and re-upholstered chairs for the altar and the confessional, had the exterior of the hall painted to match the church, oversaw new plantings outside the church hall, and aided the local trading post with the needs of the community. The ladies plan activities to benefit the parish life and they are happy to assist when needed.
We welcome new members at all times to join us for friendship and giving.

Our mission focuses on the care of the altars and the recitation of the Rosary. The Altar ministry centers on tending to the altar linens, priest’s vestments, altar servers and Eucharist ministers robes, etc. as well as providing altar flowers for special feast days and Masses.
The rosary is recited at every meeting and for each society member at the time of their death. The Society holds one fundraising event per year to help facilitate these works.
The A-R Society meets the 3rd Monday in March, May, September, and November at 7 pm.
On the third Sunday of the same months, the 8 am Mass intention is for the living and deceased members of the Society.
